What’s Involved in Flushing a Water Heater

Plumbers recommend that you flush your water heater every six months. Lots of people fail to do this or think it waste too much water. However it will prolong the life of your water heater by removed any minerals and debris that has collected in the tank. It’s especially important to do this if you hear a rumbling, boiling sound coming from your water heater. This is the sediment that has collected in the tank. It’s simple to do and you will not need the help of a plumber. You have to turn off the water and electric or gas supply. Then by attaching a hose to the drain valve  you can drain the water out of the heater into a drain or outside area. Then you run some water through the tank to further rinse it out.
