Low water pressure: common causes
- Debris in the water–Sometime solid debris can enter the water main; this will get trapped in your water pipes hence reducing the water pressure that will be delivered to your house. Sometimes you will notice some small debris coming out of the taps. This is a problem that will arise from the purification plants. If you notice this, you should inform the water supplying company.
- Mineral deposit build-up –Mineral salts contained in the water that you use in your home can start depositing in the pipes. With time the deposits will reach a level where they will prevent the flow of water. This will in return lead you to experience low water pressure.
- Pressure regulators–The supplying company may decide to regulate the pressures; the regulation may incur errors, which will end up allowing low-pressure water to flow to your house. If you experience such problems, then you should inform the water supplying company to check on the regulators.
- Water valves–Though it rarely happens, someone my have closed the water valves by mistake; this will end up reducing the amount of water that will be entering your house. Sometimes children can close the valves, if they are located in an accessible area. It never hurts to check this before going to more drastic measures.
- Water leaks–Water leaks in your water mains can be among the causes of low pressures. In this case you will need to repair or replace some water lines. In order to ensure this is done correctly, you should work with a professional waterline contractor.
